Worship Services

Worship services are held at 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. every Sunday.

In the morning service a passage from the Bible (ESV) is explained, and usually in the afternoon a Scriptural doctrine is explained using the Heidelberg Catechism as a guide.

Babysitting is available at all worship services. The nursery is located downstairs.

How We Worship

Worship is a special time of meeting and fellowship between the Lord as our God and we as His people. Since we are sinful people and He is a holy God, we come before him with due humility and only through the one Mediator and eternal High Priest, Jesus Christ. We therefore seek to maintain a reverent atmosphere within the worship services, conscious of the fact that we are involved in worshipping the great Lord of lords and King of kings.

Since children, as well as adults, are part of God’s covenant, the children of the congregation participate in worship already at an early age.

A number of different liturgical elements make up each worship service. Generally speaking, we begin with confessing our dependence upon the Lord, followed by a reception of His blessing. Singing of psalms and hymns are placed throughout the service, as well as listening to the Ten Commandments and reading from the Scriptures. A certain portion of Scripture is thoroughly examined and applied to our daily lives by the minister. The sacrament of baptism is administered as needed, and the Lord’s Supper is celebrated six times a year. Other parts of worship include public prayers and public profession of faith, as well as offerings of alms for the poor and other causes of charity. The worship service is ended by once again receiving the Lord’s blessing.

The entire worship service is structured as a covenantal dialogue between the LORD and his people. He speaks to us, in His Word and with His blessings, and in return, we respond to him by singing and praying.

We emphasize the importance of singing together as a congregation in each worship service. Our song book, The Book of Praise: Anglo-Genevan Psalter, contains rhymed versions of all 150 psalms, as well as a selection of hymns.
